Fernet is a bitter produced by infusing various herbs in hot water and alcohol, with no added sugars. Originally intended as a digestif thanks to its bitter flavour (a welcome relief after a heavy meal), it has many other uses.

Fernet is a perfect after-dinner liqueur. Serve it cold at around 10°C, neat or with ice. It makes an excellent long drink if you add soda water. Why not try adding it to coffee or mixing with grenadine?
